Wilson: “My best was getting my teeth fixed today.”  He had his first cavities filled and was such a big boy about it – went back to the room without mom, and never cried!

Maggie: “Mine best was Wilson doing so well at the dentist today.”  She was kind of dreading it, not knowing how Wilson was going to take it.  Glad it went so well!

Phil: “Mine was hanging out with Wilson for a while tonight.”

Wilson: “My best was my Papito’s Party for T-Ball and getting my new trophy!  It’s bigger than any of Dad’s trophies.”

Maggie: “Mine was getting to know Miriam today.  What a sweet girl!”  Thanks again, Miriam, for your help today!

Phil: “My best was seeing my new Father’s Day book that Maggie & the kids made for me.  I love it!”

Paradox of the Day

June 19th, 2009

I think I’d had one sip of coffee this morning when a coworker cruised by my door, stopped and said, “I hate it when I wake up chipper.”

I would’ve laughed harder had I consumed more coffee at the time.  Nevertheless, very clever.

Wilson: “I didn’t have a best because I disobeyed all day.”  After a quick reminder of the rules of this day, he remembered that going to the toy store was his favorite “good” thing that he got to do today.

Maggie: “My best was getting my new purse.”  Happy late birthday!

Phil: “My best was putting the TV back into our room.”  It’s the small things.

Maggie: “Rocking the babies tonight was really good.”

Phil: “Mine was catching up on some Netflix with Maggs.”

Wilson: “Um, I really didn’t have a best today.” Oh, really? I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy going swimming, dinner at Mellow Mushroom, scoping out Best Buy & PetSmart and then getting ice cream. Sounds like you had a terrible day! “NO, Dad, all of those were my best!” Yeah, I thought so.

Maggie: “My best was going swimming today.” To which Wilson replied, “yeah, mine too!”

Phil: “Mine was a great evening with the family, and also getting a good run in with Mr. Tal.”

Come Together

June 15th, 2009

WEE & I were on the way to the park yesterday for some much-needed energy-releasing activities.  Otherwise, one of us was going to end the other, and I’m really not sure who was going to walk away alive.

We rode together in silence, partly excited about what new adventures we were about to experience and partly just because we both needed some quiet time.  About halfway to the park he spoke up and said, “hey, we came together.”  That snapped me out of my daze so I said, “huh?” to which he replied, “we’re both going to the park and we’re both in the car, so we’re coming together.  Like in the song.”

I didn’t even realize it, but this song was playing on the radio.  In fact, I had to turn it up to recognize that it was the Beatles.  Good ears, little man, good ears.

Wilson: “My best was going to Pat Pat’s house, and we went to Chick-Fil-A!”  Thanks, Pat Pat!

Maggie: “My best was my birthday massage today.” Happy big birthday, sweetheart.  We love you!

Phil: “My best was going for a ride in Big Car.”  Poor little guy.  Glad you’re running, but we’ll get you fixed.
